Double-base smokeless gunpowders contain, in addition to nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin (8–23%) as an energetic component. As a result, they have a higher energy content than single-base powders and provide greater ballistic performance in firearms. They also contain small amounts of stabilizers and other additives, similar to those used in single-base powders.

This is a dense, double-base spherical powder similar to Accurate 2230, one of the four most popular rifle powders. It is intended for .223 Remington (5.56 NATO) cartridges.
