The Kimber CDS9 Black entered the market in early 2025 as the successor to the Micro 9 platform and represents Kimber’s most advanced compact, hammer-fired, fully ambidextrous high-capacity handgun. Designed as a modern everyday carry pistol, it combines 1911-style trigger characteristics with optics readiness, light compatibility, and impressive capacity in a compact form factor.
The Aluminum frame features a DLC Black finish and an integrated Accessory Rail for mounting a light or laser. Controls are fully ambidextrous. The front strap incorporates Frag pattern checkering for enhanced grip. Grip panels are nylon with molded stippling, and the mainspring housing is also constructed from nylon.
The Stainless Steel slide is finished in DLC Black, with front and rear serrations and an external extractor. The slide includes a direct mount optic cut for RMSc footprint. Both front and rear sights are white-dot configuration.
The 3.18" (80.8 mm)Match-grade stainless steel barrel utilizes 5R rifling with a 1:10 twist (right hand) for optimized accuracy in a compact platform.
The trigger is flat faced with a vertical break point, delivering a crisp and consistent 1911-inspired feel. The pistol uses a stacked recoil spring system to effectively manage recoil while maintaining compact dimensions.
Overall dimensions are overall length: 6.2" (≈ 15.75 cm), height: 5.0" (≈ 12.70 cm with 13-round magazine), width: 1.1" (≈ 2.79 cm), and weight with empty magazine of 608 g. The pistol includes one 13-round and one 15-round magazine, providing up to 15+1 rounds of capacity.
