The Marlin 1895 Trapper chambered in .45-70 Government is a modern lever-action rifle purpose-built for maneuverability and stopping power in a compact configuration. Based on the proven 1895 SBL platform, the Trapper features a shortened 16.17-inch stainless steel barrel, ideal for dense brush, tight spaces, or use on horseback or in vehicles. With an overall length of just 87 cm (34.25 inches) and an unloaded weight of 3.2 kg, the rifle offers excellent portability without sacrificing ballistic performance.
The cold hammer-forged barrel is threaded with an 11/16"-24 pattern and comes with a match-polished thread protector installed. The matte stainless finish reduces glare in the field, and the Skinner Sights™ peep sight system—comprising a front blade and adjustable rear sight mounted on the receiver—offers fast and precise target acquisition. The black laminate stock and forend are dimensionally stable and resistant to weather-induced warping, while their sharp checkering and slim profile ensure excellent control and comfort.
The action, lever, and trigger guard are CNC-machined from stainless steel forgings, and the oversized lever loop allows smooth operation even with gloved hands. The tubular magazine holds 5 rounds of .45-70 Govt ammunition. Additional features include a cross-bolt manual safety, traditional half-cock hammer, soft rubber recoil pad, sling swivel studs, and an offset hammer spur to accommodate optics.
