The Mossberg MVP LR Tactical is a tactical variant of the proven MVP rifle series, developed by O.F. Mossberg & Sons as one of the first bolt‑action platforms capable of reliably feeding from AR‑15 style magazines. Chambered in .223 Remington / 5.56×45 NATO, it utilizes Mossberg’s patented Drop Push™ bolt system, ensuring smooth and dependable cartridge feeding from standard AR magazines, including the supplied 10‑round magazine, while remaining fully compatible with aftermarket options.
At the heart of the rifle is a bolt‑action system featuring a distinctive spiral‑fluted bolt body and an oversized tactical bolt handle, providing fast, positive manipulation even when wearing gloves. The Lightning Bolt Action™ (LBA™) trigger system delivers a clean, creep‑free break and is user‑adjustable from approximately 3 to 7 pounds, allowing the trigger pull to be tailored for precision shooting or more dynamic applications.
The barrel measures 16¼ inches in length and is constructed as a medium bull profile from carbon steel, finished in a matte blued coating. A 1:7 twist rate optimizes the barrel for modern .223 Remington projectiles. The muzzle is threaded to accept compatible suppressors or muzzle devices and is protected by a thread cap from the factory. A receiver‑mounted Picatinny rail allows direct mounting of optics or other sighting systems.
