The Savage Arms AXIS is a modern bolt-action rifle designed to deliver affordability, reliability and practical field accuracy in a lightweight, easy-handling configuration. Its construction is based on a carbon-steel receiver and a 22-inch carbon-steel barrel finished in matte black, using button-rifling to maintain consistent ballistic performance with .223 Remington ammunition. The rifle operates with a smooth, side-mounted bolt release and feeds from a four-round detachable box magazine, which supports straightforward loading and secure retention.

The stock is made from black synthetic material with a matte surface, providing a rigid, weather-resistant platform and a comfortable sporter profile with contoured gripping surfaces on the fore-end and wrist. A recoil pad is integrated into the buttstock to moderate impulse despite the rifle’s low weight of 6.3 pounds. The overall length reaches 42.5 inches, and the fixed length of pull is 13.75 inches. The AXIS does not use the AccuTrigger or AccuStock systems, keeping the construction simple and robust, and it is delivered without mounted optics. The rifle is configured for right-hand use, intended primarily for big-game hunting in North America, and maintains the straightforward functionality expected from the AXIS series while offering a cost-effective entry into centerfire bolt-action rifles.
