HK P30L SD without safety with extended slide catch

Heckler & Koch P30L-V3 SD is a German-made semi-automatic pistol from the well-established P30 family, originally introduced in 2006 as a replacement for the P2000. From a design perspective, the P30 series represents a transitional platform between classic hammer-fired pistols such as the HK45 (successor to the USP line) and later striker-fired designs like the SFP9, combining a traditional SA/DA operating system with modern polymer ergonomics.

The P30L-V3 SD model is chambered in 9 mm Luger and features an extended barrel with a length of 128 mm (5.05"), manufactured from stainless steel. The barrel uses a right-hand polygonal rifling with a 1:10 twist, produced by the button rifling process, and is nitrided to ensure high surface hardness, excellent wear resistance, and long service life. The muzzle is fitted with a 13.5 × 1 LH threaded interface, allowing the installation of a sound suppressor.

The barrel and recoil spring assembly are housed within a blackened stainless-steel slide, which features front and rear serrations to ensure secure handling during operation. The pistol employs a modified Browning-type locking system, common to all variants of the P30 series.

The V3 trigger variant operates in a SA/DA configuration and is equipped with an external hammer and a decocking button for safely lowering the hammer. The pistol includes a manual safety and extended ambidextrous slide stop levers, ensuring comfortable operation for both right- and left-handed users.

The frame is made from a kevlar-reinforced polymer, providing high structural strength while keeping weight to a minimum. The unloaded weight of the pistol is 873 g. At the front of the frame, a standard Picatinny (RIS II) rail is integrated for mounting tactical accessories such as weapon lights or laser aiming devices.

The pistol is fitted with fully adjustable LPA Super Lumia Nova White sights, suitable for precision shooting and low-light conditions. The grip ergonomics follow the proven P30 concept, offering extensive user customization through interchangeable side panels and backstraps. In terms of grip geometry, the design is closely related to the HK SFP9, although the grip panels themselves are not interchangeable. A shared component between the HK P30 and HK SFP9 platforms is the magazine.

The pistol is supplied with a magazine capacity of 15 rounds, which, combined with the extended barrel, longer slide catch and precise sights, and excellent ergonomics, makes the Heckler & Koch P30L-V3 SD a highly capable choice for sport shooting, duty use, and civilian ownership where accuracy and controllability are key priorities. This model does not have a manual safety.
