The Ruger MAX9 is a modern micro-compact semi-automatic pistol designed for personal protection and everyday concealed carry, combining an exceptionally slim profile with impressive capacity in 9×19 mm Luger. Its design focuses on maximizing performance and usability within a compact footprint, making it well suited for users who demand both discretion and capability.
The pistol features a striker-fired action with a short, smooth trigger pull, a clean break, and a positive reset, supporting fast and accurate shooting. A rugged slide made from through-hardened alloy steel with a black oxide finish provides durability and long service life. The 3,2" (81 mm) barrel, also manufactured from alloy steel, incorporates a 1:10" right-hand twist with six grooves, optimized for reliable performance with standard 9 mm ammunition.
The Ruger MAX9 is optic ready, allowing direct mounting of micro red dot sights with JPoint™ and Shield-pattern footprints, while maintaining co-witness capability with the iron sights. A tritium fiber-optic front sight ensures excellent visibility in both daylight and low-light conditions, complemented by a drift-adjustable rear sight for precise zeroing.
The grip frame is constructed from high-performance, glass-filled nylon and features a medium-textured surface that provides a secure and comfortable grip. Practical handling is further enhanced by a reversible magazine release, making the pistol suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters. The MAX9 does not include a manual safety; instead, it relies on a comprehensive internal safety system consisting of an integrated trigger safety, an internal striker blocker, and a chamber inspection port for visual confirmation of loaded or unloaded status.
Overall length is 152 mm, height 115 mm, and slide width just 24 mm, ensuring excellent concealability. Unloaded weight is approximately 522 g. The pistol is supplied with two magazines, one 12-round and one 10-round, both featuring E-Nickel Teflon® coatings, along with a finger grip extension floorplate to improve comfort and control.
