The SIG SAUER P226 is the pistol that defined the benchmark by which combat and service handguns are still measured today. Originally developed as SIG SAUER’s entry in the military trials to replace the 1911 platform, the P226 has since become a trusted sidearm for elite military and law enforcement units worldwide, including the U.S. Navy SEALs and numerous federal and state agencies.
The P226 ELITE model represents a modern evolution of this proven design. With its full-size frame, exceptional ergonomics, and excellent balance, it offers confident handling even during rapid and demanding shooting sequences. As of 2024, this variant is optics-ready from the factory, allowing easy installation of a red dot sight without additional modifications.
The pistol operates with a DA/SA (Double Action / Single Action) trigger system, combining a safe double-action first shot with a lighter, precise single-action trigger pull for subsequent shots. In keeping with traditional SIG SAUER design philosophy, the P226 ELITE is not equipped with a manual safety, relying instead on proven internal safeties and proper handling practices.
Construction consists of a 4.4" (112 mm) barrel and stainless steel slide with Nitron® finish paired with a lightweight alloy frame featuring black hard-coat anodizing. The ergonomic E2 grip panels provide a secure and comfortable grip, even during extended training sessions. An integrated SIG accessory rail allows mounting of tactical lights or other accessories.
Aiming is handled by SIGLITE Night Sights, ensuring reliable visibility in daylight as well as low-light conditions. The pistol is supplied with two 15-round steel magazines, meeting the service standard for this platform.
Overall length is approximately 196 mm, with a width of 38 mm and a height of 140 mm. The unloaded weight is approximately 919 g, contributing to excellent stability and effective recoil management.
