Ruger LCR is a double-action revolver chambered for .22 LR cartridges, designed as an ultralight and compact platform intended primarily for concealed carry and recreational shooting. The design is based on a monolithic frame made from aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum alloy, significantly reducing weight while maintaining high structural strength.
The revolver operates in a double-action mechanism (DA) and features an advanced fire control system with a patented friction-reducing cam, providing a smooth trigger pull with no increase in resistance during travel (non-stacking). A polymer fire control housing manages internal components in precise alignment while reducing overall weight and helping to mitigate recoil.
The cold hammer-forged barrel features a 1:16" RH twist rate, optimized for .22 LR cartridges. A replaceable pinned ramp front sight combined with an integral U-notch rear sight provides a simple and functional sighting system. The cylinder is made of high-strength stainless steel with a PVD finish and is extensively fluted to reduce weight. Ergonomics are enhanced by a Hogue® Tamer™ Monogrip®, which significantly reduces perceived recoil.
In terms of dimensions, the Ruger LCR features a barrel length of 1.87" (47 mm), an overall length of 165 mm, a cylinder capacity of 8 rounds, and a weight of approximately 422 g, making it an extremely lightweight revolver focused on portability and carry comfort.
