Double-base smokeless gunpowders contain, in addition to nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin (8–23%) as an energetic component. As a result, they have a higher energy content than single-base powders and provide greater ballistic performance in firearms. They also contain small amounts of stabilizers and other additives, similar to those used in single-base powders.

This is a medium-burning, dense, double-base spherical powder similar to Accurate 2520. It delivers excellent performance in medium-capacity cartridges such as the .308 Winchester and in certain applications for larger calibers. It is the preferred choice for target shooting with 168-grain bullets in .308 Winchester. Its pressure curve also makes it well suited for use in M1 and M14 (M1A) service rifles.
