Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame, 9x19 mm - strength Forged from Steel: A Unique Pistol from the Legendary German Manufacturer.
The Walther Q4/Q5 SF (Steel Frame) pistols have created a category of their own: They are currently the only striker-fired pistol series on the market that also use a full steel frame. Moreover, this frame is not just any steel construction—it is crafted from a solid steel forging and precisely machined on CNC equipment to exacting tolerances.
The "Steel Frame" line is based on the popular and proven Walther PPQ platform, sharing several components. It is a semi-automatic pistol with a locked breech using the Browning–Petter system, where the external lug on the chamber locks into an enlarged ejection port. Unlocking is achieved by an open cam track under the barrel and a short recoil system. The frame is made of solid steel, precisely milled. The trigger mechanism is single-action with an internal striker, offering a consistent pull weight and travel length. Just like the PPQ series, the Steel Frame models offer outstanding ergonomics and excellent accessibility of all controls. Regardless of the trigger variant used, these pistols are known for their superb trigger characteristics. Magazines are made of steel with either polymer or aluminum base plates and are fully compatible with the PPQ series.
The Q5 Match SF is the base model of this line. In this configuration, the pistol is currently approved for use in the IPSC Production and Production Optics divisions. It excels in accuracy, thanks to its 5” (127 mm) barrel with an integrated chamber (G. Luger patent), paired with high-quality LPA sights (fiber optic front sight and fully adjustable rear sight). The slide features Walther’s proprietary mounting interface for optional micro red dot sights, using interchangeable mounting plates. The recoil spring guide rod is made of steel.
Controls are fully ambidextrous: the slide stop has extended levers on both sides, and the magazine release is reversible for right- or left-handed shooters. The slide includes aggressive serrations on both the front and rear for easier manipulation from any grip style.
The steel frame features a Picatinny rail on the front for attaching accessories, and at the rear, a pronounced beavertail and interchangeable backstraps for customizable grip ergonomics.
