The Ruger SR1911 CMD is a full-metal Commander-style pistol chambered in .45 Auto, based on the classic 1911 design and combining traditional engineering with modern manufacturing precision. It retains the original 1911 fire-control system, delivering the distinctive trigger feel and manual operation that have defined this platform for over a century. Standard magazine capacity is 7+1 rounds, consistent with the more compact Commander configuration.
Both the slide and frame are manufactured from stainless steel with a low-glare finish, providing excellent corrosion resistance and long service life. Precision CNC machining ensures a tight slide-to-frame fit and smooth, consistent slide travel. The barrel measures 4.25" (108 mm) and features a solid lock-up that delivers excellent accuracy straight out of the box. The bore is cut with 6 grooves and a right-hand twist rate of 1:16", optimized for the .45 Auto cartridge.
The pistol maintains a traditional appearance with hardwood grip panels and a checkered backstrap, offering a secure and comfortable grip. Ergonomics are enhanced by an extended thumb safety and an enlarged slide stop for positive, intuitive manipulation. An oversized beavertail grip safety ensures reliable disengagement and improved shooting comfort. A flat mainspring housing and rear slide serrations further improve control during handling and operation.
The trigger features a lightweight aluminum skeletonized trigger shoe, providing a crisp pull with no creep and a short, positive reset. A skeletonized hammer combined with a titanium firing pin reduces lock time and enhances shot-to-shot consistency. An enlarged ejection port and extended magazine release contribute to reliable operation and faster reloads, while the inspection port allows visual confirmation of a loaded or empty chamber.
Sighting is handled by drift-adjustable Novak® 3-Dot sights, offering a clean sight picture and fast target acquisition. The pistol accepts most standard aftermarket 1911 parts and accessories, making it a solid platform for customization.
In terms of dimensions, the Ruger SR1911 CMD has an overall length of 197 mm, a height of 138 mm, a width of 34 mm, and a weight of approximately 1,032 g, providing excellent balance and handling while retaining the durability of an all-metal construction. The pistol is supplied with two 7-round stainless steel magazines and a barrel bushing wrench, making it ready for immediate use.
