Ruger SR1911 Competition chambered in 9×19 mm Luger is an all‑metal competition pistol designed for match shooting, building on the classic 1911 platform and further refined through hand‑fitting and the use of specialized competition components. Compared to the .45 Auto variant, it offers increased magazine capacity and optimization for lighter projectiles, while retaining the traditional manual controls and the distinctive trigger characteristics of the 1911 system. Standard magazine capacity is 10+1 rounds, reflecting the pistol’s competitive focus.
Both the slide and frame are manufactured from stainless steel, with the frame finished in black nitride and the slide featuring a distinctive two‑tone black‑nitrided and stainless finish. The hand‑fitted slide‑to‑frame interface provides an exceptionally tight yet smooth and refined action, characteristic of high‑end competition pistols. The 5" (127 mm) competition barrel is designed for match use and features a polished feed ramp, fitted barrel lug, precision barrel bushing, and a target crown. The bore incorporates six grooves with a right‑hand twist of 1:16", selected to enhance accuracy with lighter‑weight 9 mm match bullets.
The frame is further equipped with 25 lines‑per‑inch front strap checkering and a matching checkered mainspring housing, which, together with Hogue® Piranha G10 grip panels, provide outstanding grip and stability during rapid fire. Ergonomics are enhanced by an undercut trigger guard, allowing a higher grip, and an oversized beavertail grip safety, helping to reduce muzzle rise and improve recoil control. For fast reloads, the pistol is fitted with a machined aluminum TechWell magazine well.
The fire control system is tuned for competition use and consists of a match‑grade trigger with a flat trigger shoe, a Koenig Shooting Sports low‑mass hammer, a competition sear, a precision‑machined Cylinder & Slide disconnector, and a hand‑tuned sear spring. This setup delivers a very clean trigger break, a crisp release point, and a short, positive reset, providing excellent control during both precision and dynamic shooting.
Sighting equipment is optimized for competitive shooting and includes a fiber optic front sight for rapid target acquisition and an adjustable, serrated rear target sight for precise alignment. Controls include an ambidextrous manual safety, an extended magazine release, a forged slide stop, and an integral plunger tube, all contributing to reliable and confident operation.
Dimensionally, the Ruger SR1911 Competition has an overall length of 220 mm, a height of 143 mm, a width of 37 mm, and a weight of approximately 1,163 g, providing excellent stability and effective recoil control during rapid firing sequences. The pistol is supplied with a waterproof fitted hard case, two 10‑round competition magazines, a Ruger® Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity, a challenge coin, a cleaning cloth, a gun peg, and a branded decal.
